Review: Tottenham vs Brighton

Christian Eriksen fires late, Tottenham Hotspur seals vital 1-0 victory against Brighton trying to seal a top-four finish.
It wasn’t pretty, but they got there in the end. Eriksen produced a moment of quality in the 88th minute to hand Spurs a 1-0 win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which strengthens their grip on the Champions League places. Tottenham have won their last 21 matches in a row at White Hart Lane. This is a bit of a weird match as Mauricio Pochettino’s men had a decent game but struggled by Brighton defensive efforts, with bus parked in front of goal.
Despite having a 79% position and registering 29 shots only 5 of them were on target and managed to convert only one which came at the 88th minute from Eriksen.
Brighten sat deep, inviting Spurs to attack and break them down. Son and Moura stretched the field wide from either flank. Chris Hughton’s are now just 3 points off the relegation spot. They were sinking deeper with every minute of play and Spurs were struggling to find clear passage.

Eriksen has scored seven goals and 12 assists in the Premier League this season. With his contract with Spurs expires at the end of next season, and for months there have been rumours about the midfielder could leave north London. Real Madrid struggling this season, Eriksen can be a possible signing for them. The Spanish press have claimed that Eriksen has indicated he plans to move to Real Madrid in the summer.
But with this win against Brighton, Christian Eriksen is open to talks over his new contract, manager Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed.
Eriksen’s decision whether to stay at the club or not may be influenced by how Spurs end their season, with a chance to win the Champions League.
Tottenham will host a London derby with West Ham on Saturday, to keep their 100 per cent record at the new stadium.
