After a drubbing on Tuesday night at Anfield, Roma picked up vital three points in the race to qualify for next season's Champions League as they beat Chievo Verona 4-1 on Saturday night. They have a 3 point lead over city rivals Lazio before they play on Sunday against Torino FC. Di Francesco opted to start both Patrik Schick and Edin Dzeko, as he looked to score early against Chievo and put the game to bed as quickly as possible.
Radja Nainggolan and Daniele De Rossi were both also among the starters, with Kostas Manolas and Alessandro Florenzi rested.
The Giallorossi, were reduced to 10 men early in the second half, after Juan Jesus was sent off allegedly for disallowing a clear shot at goal.

The penalty though was saved brilliantly by Alisson which probably was the turning point of the match. Romans took the lead through Patrik Schick in the first half and never looked back as Edin Dzeko grabbed a brace either side of halftime to put the result beyond all doubt. El Shaarawy also chipped in with a scrappy goal sandwiched between Dzeko's brace.
Inglese did grab a late consolation for the hosts, but it was far too late to change the outcome on the night. Roma remain third in the Serie A standings - and can now turn their attention to Wednesday night, where they will face Liverpool int he second leg of their Champions League semi-final.
