It’s not a rumour anymore.
Yes, Andres Iniesta is leaving Barca at the end of this season. The legend will leave behind a glorious career in his home country having made 669 appearances in 16 seasons, winning 31 trophies with Barca. He also played three major tournaments for Spain. Barca has been and will always be a possession-based team but without Xavi, and now without Iniesta it just won’t be the same.

Iniesta has spent his career with Barca. He joined La Masia at the age of 12 and has made the second most appearances after Xavi, his partner in crime. In 2015 Xavi made his move to Al Sadd in Qatar, and now Iniesta will make his move to China. Iniesta made his debut at the age of 18 in 2002, but he became a first-team regular until he was 24. Injuries were always a big issue for Iniesta but he has racked up 34 trophies, 8 La Liga, 6 Copa del Rey, 7 Spanish Supercup, 4 Champions League, 3 UEFA Supercup, 3 FIFA Cup World Cup, 1 World Cup and 2 European Championship.
Iniesta has never been a natural goal scorer only contributing 57 goals in 669 appearances but he played an important role in Barca’s midfield. Pairing up with Xavi, Barca always dominated their position in midfield. It was Iniesta’s clever movements, distribution and key passes that made Barca’s attack deadly. Iniesta has averaged more final-third passes per 90 than any of the midfielders at Barca, 2017/18.
When Iniesta was asked about his future at Barca and his future plans - “I said I would never play against Barca so it is not going to be in Europe”, he said.

For the last 16 years Iniesta has dominated our midfield. May be it is time to say goodbye for now. Hope to see you again Iniesta. Thank You, for all the good memories you have given us. Good Luck to you for the upcoming challenge in China. Your boots can never be replaced at Barca.
You are a LEGEND.
LEGENDS NEVER DIE.
