Barcelona have been unable to find a proper replacement for Xavi in the past and now Andres Iniesta will be leaving the club this summer for China. Also, Andre Gomes, who has struggled at the club since his move from Valencia, is also considering a move away. Barcelona’s midfield options look thin as Busquests and Rakitic are not getting younger anymore. Although, the 20-yr-old Barcelona midfielder Carles Alena is hoping to get more game time following Iniesta’s departure.

Barcelona have spent €147m on Ousmane Dembele and €160m on Philippe Coutinho following Neymar’s world record €222m departure from the club. They’ve also added the likes of Paulinho and Semedo which cost them around €40m each. Player wages and agent fees have risen with time and Barcelona are planning an overhaul to their stadium with 105,000 seats rising from 99,354. The new stadium will cost around £550m and the Barcelona hierarchy cannot afford many big money signings in the near future.
Emre Can from Liverpool is out of contract at the end of this season. Can, who is just 24, has been heavily linked with a move away from Anfield for months. The German International is also chased by Italian Giants Juventus and has a huge decision to make this summer. The midfielder has featured regularly in the first team before suffering a back injury at the end of March. Can has 3 goals and 4 assists in 26 Premier League apprearances this campaign for Liverpool. Can would be a free transfer and will be an option in the midfield for the Blaugranas.

Emre Can also seems to be a good candidate for Barca as the board are still unsure on whether or not to sign Gremio youngster, Arthur Melo.
Despite paying €4m deposit, Barcelona might not complete Arthur’s transfer. Last month, the Catalan giants confirmed their interest in the 21-yr-old Brazilian midfielder and were ready to pay the €30m release clause, which would rise to €39m including bonuses. However, the deal is not complete and Barca must make their final decisions by 15th July.
